About 98.7 KDJO
98.7 KDJO is an independent internet radio station based in San Diego, California. Every day from 6 AM to 2 AM we stream hand-selected music from independent artists, San Diego sports talk, and rotating guest DJs. There are no ad breaks in the stream and no algorithm choosing what plays next — just a small team playing songs we think are worth hearing.
What KDJO Is
KDJO is independently created and run. It is not part of a radio network, and its rotations are chosen by people rather than software. The goal is simple: give listeners a place to hear music they probably would not find on a commercial playlist, and give San Diego sports fans a show that talks about their teams the way fans actually do.
Despite the 98.7 in our name, KDJO is an internet-only station. It does not broadcast over FM airwaves; it streams over the internet, so you can tune in from any browser using the player at the top of our homepage.
What You’ll Hear
Our rotations are built around independent artists and cover a lot of ground, including:
- Surf rock
- Indie pop
- Underground hip-hop
- Vaporwave
- And more
The weekly lineup is posted on the schedule section of the homepage, with each day’s shows listed by time. Shows and times can change, so check back often. Guest DJs also bring their own playlists to the station; you can find them in the DJs section.
Want your music played? We take submissions. Send a link through the contact form. Spotify playlists are ideal, but we will listen to anything you send.
How We Choose Our Music
Our rotation is made up of independent artists. Recordings are played only with the permission of the artist or rights holder, or under an applicable license. If you are an artist and would like your music added to the rotation, or removed from it, email us at [email protected] and we will respond promptly.

Left On Base: Our Sports Talk Show
Left On Base is KDJO’s flagship sports talk program and is exclusive to the station. It covers the San Diego Padres, San Diego FC, and San Diego college sports, including SDSU and UCSD, along with Mountain West and WCC hoops. Episodes feature roundtable discussions, breakdowns of the latest series and roster moves, and listener call-in debates.
Watch episodes on the Left On Base YouTube channel, or find the latest preview on the homepage.
Local Crates & Community
KDJO’s taste is shaped by the record shops of Southern California. Our homepage spotlights three of them: Folk Arts Rare Records in City Heights, Re-Animated Records in La Mesa Village, and M-Theory Music in Mission Hills. If you know a shop or a private collection that deserves a mention, tell us through the contact form. See the full list in Where We Dig.
How the Station Is Supported
KDJO is free to listen to. The stream itself has no ad breaks. To help cover the cost of running an independent station, this website shows advertising provided by Google AdSense. You can accept or opt out of personalized ads at any time using Cookie Settings in the footer, and our Privacy Policy explains what data is used.
Local businesses interested in partnering with the station are welcome to get in touch through the contact form.
